Music at St. Andrew's

At St. Andrew’s, we offer opportunities for people of all ages to sing praises to God and believe that music heightens our worship. At our 10:15 worship, we sing congregational hymns led by our Parish Choir which also chants the psalms and offers choral anthems during the program year (September through May). We also enjoy music from our Children’s Choir, the Handbell Choir, and The Gospel Lights – our old-time Gospel band. We are a congregation that loves to sing – come make a joyful noise with us!

The Parish Choir

Led by our Director of Music, Stephen Leist, the parish choir offers hymns, anthems, and musical leadership at our 10:15 Sunday worship. Throughout the year, they offer services of Evensong (sung Evening Prayer) as well as special worship services such as the Epiphany Feast of Lights and Ascension Hymn Festival. This ensemble of parishioner volunteers and paid section leaders not only makes beautiful music, but has a lot of fun doing it! The choir rehearses on Thursday evenings as well as Sunday before church. Anyone interested in joining the choir may reach out to Stephen Leist for more information.

The Children’s Choir

Led by our Associate Director of Music, Richard Rigg, the children’s choir rehearses Sundays during the school year in the auditorium following the 10:15 service. They sing in church on special Sundays and are central to our annual Christmas Pageant. Contact Richard Rigg for more information.

The Handbell Choir

Our Handbell Choir rehearses on Thursday evenings before the parish choir, and is made up of volunteers from the parish. Known both for their beautiful music and stylish tie-dye gloves, the Handbell Choir is led by Richard Rigg, who also arranges most of their pieces. Whether you’re completely new to bells or a skilled pro, you can contact Richard if you’re interested in joining.

The Gospel Lights

Our church loves that we can offer traditional Anglican Choral Music alongside old-time gospel and bluegrass music. Under the leadership of Richard Rigg, this group has included singers, banjo, guitar, hammered dulcimer, and washboard bass among others. If you play an instrument and/or sing, reach out to Richard to learn more about joining this joyful group.
